The pilots and SAS disagree.

On Wednesday evening, the airline giant announced that it was canceling 709 flights – affecting approximately 54,000 passengers.

– There is still a lot left and we are not close to a solution, says mediator Mats Wilhelm Ruland to VG.

The striking pilots and representatives from SAS met on Wednesday in a mediation meeting to find a solution to the conflict. 

Hopes were high then – but they were dashed.

The two parties are still far apart. 

– Things are starting to move between the parties, but the distance is still very large, says Mats Wilhelm Ruland, when he meets the press on Wednesday evening. 

The meeting took place at Riksmekleren, the Norwegian mediation authority. 

At 11 a.m., both parties entered the room to negotiate. Initial reports suggested that the negotiations would be completed by 2 p.m. – but that was not the case.

”We deeply regret that customers are affected”

At 10:18 p.m., SAS sent out a press release:

”"Due to the conflict, further departures are now being cancelled on Thursday. Nothing new regarding the negotiations between the parties," it was read at the time.

A total of 709 flights are canceled throughout Scandinavia and approximately 54,000 travelers are affected.

”"We deeply regret that our customers are affected by the ongoing pilot strike, which is leading to delays and canceled flights," SAS writes.
