Scandic has signed two long-term lease agreements with the property owner JV Nordväst Fastighet AB to take over two hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping. The takeover comprises a total of 199 rooms. The hotels will undergo renovation and adaptation to the new brand and are expected to open during the first half of 2026.

Interest in Scandic Go is high and during 2024 Scandic has increased the pace of establishment for the new brand. Two new hotels were announced in Gothenburg and Umeå over the holiday period. Including the takeover of hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping, the company's pipeline for Scandic Go now amounts to six hotels comprising 851 rooms in Sweden and Finland.

By taking over hotels or converting office spaces in destinations where the market share in the economy segment is low, the company can increase the establishment rate of Scandic Go. The new hotels are existing hotels that Scandic is taking over and have central locations in destinations with expected increased demand from both business and leisure travellers.

– Helsingborg and Jönköping are important economic centres and hubs in Sweden, and our new hotels are in attractive locations in both cities. The establishment of Scandic Go in Helsingborg and Jönköping complements our current hotel offering and strengthens our market position in the cities. I look forward to continuing to grow Scandic Go in Sweden, as well as in the rest of the Nordic region and Germany, says Jens Mathiesen, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels Group.

Scandic Go, Helsingborg, 96 rooms
Helsingborg, with its close proximity to Denmark, is an important hub for southern Sweden and a destination where both business and population are growing. The new hotel is centrally located approximately 500 metres from Helsingborg Central Station and the ferry link to Helsingør. The hotel has 96 rooms. Scandic will certify the hotel's operations with the Swan, the Nordic region's official environmental label, after opening.

Scandic Go, Jönköping, 103 rooms
Jönköping is a diversified economic hub in Sweden, attracting tourism, large meetings, and events. The hotel has 103 rooms and, due to its central location in the city centre, guests will be close to the city's entertainment offerings and the region's attractions. Scandic will certify hotel operations with the Swan, the Nordic region's official environmental label, after opening.

– We have good momentum in the growth rate for Scandic Go. We continue to attract established property partners who see the strength in signing long-term rental agreements with Scandic. I feel very confident that our new brand opens up new opportunities for our property partners. It enables us to grow with Scandic Go in more destinations with relatively short lead times, says Peter Jangbratt, Country Manager Sweden at Scandic Hotels.

Following the opening, Scandic will operate a total of three hotels with 520 rooms in Helsingborg. In Jönköping, Scandic's total capacity after the opening of Scandic Go will be three hotels with 593 rooms.

According to the press release.
