Skåne train stop costs tens of millions

The final bill for the long-term train stop after the fire in Hässleholm will end up at least ten million kronor for Skånetrafiken, according to an initial assessment.

This involves replacement buses, extra staff, loss of revenue and compensation for travelers affected by delays.

”"This is one of the biggest disruptions we have had, I can't remember a disruption this big," says Mikael Espling, business manager for Öresund trains at Skånetrafiken, to SVT Nyheter Skåne.

The fire in an industrial building next to the railway tracks on August 14 stopped all train traffic through Hässleholm for almost a week.
