Hotel company Scandic is selling Scandic Hasselbacken in Stockholm for 230 million on a debt-free basis.
The deal is expected to generate a capital gain of around SEK 180 million. Scandic Hasselbacken is located on Djurgården in central Stockholm and has 113 rooms. The buyer is Pop House, where musician Björn Ulvaeus and EQT founder Conni Jonssons are the main owners, which also operates the nearby Abba The Museum and Pop House Hotel.
”"Scandic Hasselbacken has a unique location next to the new owners' other businesses and we are handing over the operation with a strong conviction that the hotel will play an important role in their concept," says Jens Mathiesen, CEO of Scandic Hotels, in a press release.
Pop House will take over the operation of the hotel on March 1, 2019.
Scandic Hasselbacken contributed approximately SEK 90 million to Scandic's net sales and SEK 10.5 million to the hotel group's adjusted EBITDA in 2018. The sale will be reported in the first quarter of 2019.
