Hotel company Scandic expects occupancy to be at least 35 percent in June. According to the company, the booking situation for July also looks significantly better than last year.
In a press release, Scandic writes that hotel demand in all markets has risen since the company presented its first quarter report at the end of April in the wake of eased restrictions.
”"As previously announced, Scandic's occupancy rate was around 20 percent in April. Since then, demand has improved and occupancy was around 25 percent in May and is expected to reach at least 35 percent in June. The increase has been broad, with improved occupancy at almost all destinations, both weekdays and weekends," Scandic writes.
According to Scandic, domestic leisure travel is increasing in all markets. At the moment, the company sees the strongest demand in the Norwegian market, while demand is still low in Germany.
”"Demand has increased in all Nordic capitals, with the strongest development in Oslo. However, occupancy at Scandic's metropolitan hotels is still generally lower than for other locations in each market," writes Scandic.
The average revenue per available hotel room, revpar, amounted to SEK 173 in April and SEK 229 in May. The company also expects to receive direct government support of just over SEK 200 million during the quarter.
According to Scandic, the booking situation is significantly higher for July than at the same time last year.
”"Against the background of the improved booking situation, Scandic expects occupancy in July to be higher than in July last year, when it amounted to 42 percent," Scandic writes.
