Since Sunday, all departures between Arvidsjaur and Gällivare have been canceled due to bad weather, reports Sveriges Radio P4 Norrbotten.
A total of six departures have been cancelled. Passengers will instead have to travel by bus for up to four hours.
– We've had great weather for a long time and then easterly winds came, says Ralf Lundberg, airport manager at Arvidsjaur Airport, to the radio.
The winds cause problems because Gällivare Airport only has landing aids for landing from one direction.
“Then you have problems getting down with this machine. It has too high an entry speed and too high demands on vertical visibility,” says Lundberg.
