Arlanda Airport is far from alone in struggling with long queues as a result of staff shortages. The Netherlands' Schiphol, one of Europe's busiest airports, is now forced to cancel a number of flights this summer due to congestion.
The airport does not provide a figure but notes that measured in the number of seats in the aircraft taking off, there are 13,500 more seats daily than Schiphol has staff to handle.
”"Of course it's frustrating. It's not responsible to just hope for the best before the summer season. We are responsible for our passengers as well as the safety and health of our employees," says CEO Dick Benschop.
