The biggest sources of bacteria at our airports are neither the toilets, the gate nor the check-in counter.
It's the plastic boxes in the security checkpoint, writes CNN.
Researchers at the University of Nottingham, together with the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, have studied the sanitary conditions at Helsinki Airport.
They found traces of various viruses on 10 percent of all surfaces they checked.
And the worst part was, as I said, in the boxes where we put all our things at security. In addition to better cleaning, the researchers are now urging airports to provide alcohol gel to improve hygiene.
