A new wave of corona infections in Serbia is causing Greece to completely close its borders to all Serbian citizens.
According to Greek government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni, the decision is valid until July 15.
Serbia declared a state of emergency in the capital Belgrade on Friday due to the largest increase in the number of confirmed cases since April.
Greece, which has had fewer than 200 deaths from Covid-19 and just over 3,500 confirmed cases, is trying to restart its economically vital tourism industry, which accounts for up to a quarter of the country's GDP.
The tourists who are actually allowed in must, among other things, fill out forms about which country they live in and which countries they have traveled to in the last 15 days. Around 6,000 corona tests per day are also carried out on travelers coming to Greece.
