SJ will borrow SEK 1.75 billion from the European Investment Bank, EIB, SJ said in a press release.

25 new high-speed trains will be purchased and will operate on routes in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The trains can run at 250 kilometers per hour and will start running between Stockholm and Malmö and on to Copenhagen. After that, the new trains will also run between Stockholm and Gothenburg, on to Oslo.

– SJ has started its largest investment program ever and in a few years we will have one of Europe's most modern vehicle fleets. It is absolutely necessary for us to continue to contribute to both the climate goals and growth in Sweden, says SJ's Vehicle Director Arvid Fredman.

The new trains will start rolling in 2026.
