Six airlines have cancelled trips to and from Venezuela since the USA issued a warning.

Spain's airline Iberia, Portugal's TAP, Chile's LATAM, Colombia's Avianca, Brazil's Gol and Caribbean Airlines, which is based in Trinidad and Tobago, have all announced that their routes to Venezuela are being cancelled.

The decision is confirmed by Marisela de Loaiza, who leads Venezuela's aviation organisation Alav.

Late on Friday, a warning came from the US aviation authority FAA about ”heightened military activity” in the region.

”The threats pose potential risks to aircraft at all altitudes, including overflights as well as take-off and landing and to aircraft on the ground, the FAA announced.
