Several stores are ready to open by the summer when the first part of the new Market Square will be ready along with a large modern security checkpoint. Among other things, several well-known Swedish brands are moving in and there will also be a completely new gift concept with a focus on a Nordic range. In addition, stores for outdoor activities, electronics and much more, while the duty-free shop will get a completely new, larger area.
The development of the new Arlanda is underway. A large security checkpoint with modern technology is being built in Terminal 5 that will make it easier for travelers, and directly adjacent to it is the new Marknadsplatsen, which is the largest commercial investment ever at Arlanda. The Marknadsplatsen will have a Nordic design and a total commercial area of 11,000 square meters. The first phase of three will open in the summer of 2023 and the entire Marknadsplatsen will be ready around the turn of the year 2024/2025.
– Part of the commercial strategy for the procurement of new stores for Marknadsplatsen has been to create good opportunities for shopping, regardless of whether it is planned or of a more spontaneous nature. A varied selection and a broad price range that appeals to different customer groups have been important aspects, says Charlotte Ljunggren, Swedavia's Director of Marketing and Sales and Acting Airport Manager at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The procurements for the first stores that will move into Arlanda and the new Marknadsplatsen are now complete. Among the new additions are many well-known Swedish brands such as GANT and J. Lindeberg. The Sweshop concept is also one of the new additions. These are exciting gift shops with a range that is a tribute to Nordic craftsmanship, culture and heritage.
– There has been a pronounced demand for more Nordic, Swedish and local goods to buy as gifts and it is one of many things we are happy to now be able to offer, says Charlotte Ljunggren.

Stage 1 summer 2023:
Stockholm Duty Free
Immediately after the new security check, travelers will enter the new duty-free store. It will be a modern store in Nordic design, covering a total of 2,000 square meters.
Swedish shop
In Sweshop's souvenir shops, travelers will find gifts, souvenirs and food. Sweshop will also have a large Dala horse in its stores that will change style and color depending on the season and the hope is that the Dala horse will become an attractive Instagram moment for both tourists and Swedish travelers. In addition to two stores at Marknadsplatsen, you will also be able to find Sweshop in SkyCity at Arlanda and at Landvetter.
Pocket shop
Pocket shop is already available at both Arlanda and Landvetter, but they are opening two new units at Marknadsplatsen.
InMotion
The electronics chain, which sells the latest in electronics from the biggest brands, is opening three stores at Arlanda, one of which is at Marknadsplatsen, and one store at Landvetter Airport.
Kronan (Pharmacy)
Today, pharmacies are available in SkyCity with a full range of products, including prescription medicines, but now a store is opening at Marknadsplatsen that focuses on pharmacy products for health and well-being and travel-related products.

In the store at Marknadsplatsen, the fashion conscious will find clothing and accessories from the Swedish brand.
