Several smaller bombs were sent to Heathrow Airport, London City Airport and Waterloo train station in London on Tuesday, Reuters reports.

The bombs are described as "smaller improvised explosive devices" and have been defused by police, writes Sky News.

The anti-terror police have now been called in to investigate the events.

Around lunchtime on Tuesday, reports were received by London police of small envelope-like packages in A4 size posted to Heathrow Airport, London City Airport and Waterloo train station.
The first alarm came after staff at Heathrow opened a package that had started to burn, writes Reuters.
Specialists who examined the packages were later able to determine that they were "smaller improvised explosive devices," writes British Sky News.
These have been taken into custody by police for further investigation. According to police, the bombs are said to have worked so that a small fire was ignited when the envelopes were opened, the channel writes.

Initially, the premises where the bombs were found were evacuated for safety reasons, but later the airports and train station were able to fully reopen. Air and train traffic were not affected by the events.
There are no reports of anyone being injured by the bombs.
The London police say they are looking at the events as a "linked series" but that they are not yet fully clear about the motives.
Now the anti-terror police have been called in to investigate the events further.
