French aircraft manufacturer Airbus is issuing a stark warning to the British government: If no Brexit deal is in place when Britain leaves the EU, thousands of jobs are at risk.
”Simply put, a no-deal scenario poses a direct threat to Airbus” future in the UK,” said Tom Williams, chief operating officer of Airbus’ commercial aircraft unit, according to a statement from the company.
But the British government, led by Prime Minister Theresa May, dismisses the concerns:
”"We are confident that we will reach a good deal," a spokesperson for May said, according to Reuters.
Airbus has around 14,000 employees in the UK. But including the more than 4,000 subcontractors, around 100,000 workers are affected by the aircraft giant's presence in the country.
