Aircraft giant Boeing reports higher-than-expected sales in the first quarter.

Revenue amounted to $23.4 billion, compared to the Bloomberg analyst consensus of $22.23.

Earnings per share came in at $4.15, which is 34 percent better than the Bloomberg analyst consensus of $3.09.

Earnings per share excluding extraordinary items were $3.64, which is 41 percent better than the Bloomberg analyst consensus of $2.58.
