SJ and SkiStar are starting a collaboration to get more Swedes to choose the train for their ski and summer holidays in the Swedish mountains. As part of this, SJ is working to introduce more departures and more fast trains between Stockholm and Åre, as well as smooth transfer solutions for those traveling to Sälen by train.
– Travel to and from the mountains does not have to be at the expense of the environment. That is why we at SJ are working to introduce more departures and run more fast trains between Stockholm and Åre. At the same time, we are working in parallel to develop flexible fossil-free transfer solutions from the train station in Mora all the way to the ski slopes in Sälen. Through solutions like these, we hope that more Swedes will choose to take the train to the ski resorts, says Monica Lingegård, President and CEO of SJ. In addition, the ambition is to sell tickets for SJ's night trains significantly further in advance than today, which we know that many customers are asking for, Monica continues.
During the winter season, SkiStar conducted a customer survey asking its guests if they would consider traveling more sustainably – today, approximately 901% of SkiStar guests travel by car to the mountains. The customer survey shows that approximately 301% of guests want to choose a more sustainable mode of travel.
– We have listened to our customers and are happy about the collaboration where we can now together make it easier and more convenient to travel to the mountains. By offering earlier bookings, more departures and shorter travel times, we can better meet the guest's needs and make their trip to the mountains more comfortable and sustainable, says Stefan Sjöstrand, CEO at SkiStar.
