SJ is forced to pay a fine of 286,500 kronor for a series of deficiencies in night train traffic between Stockholm and Åre, reports SVT Jämtland.

According to the train operator's agreement with the Swedish Transport Administration, a number of conditions must be met for night train services between Stockholm and Duved in Åre municipality.

However, the Swedish Transport Administration determines that SJ did not meet its obligations during the fourth quarter of 2021, and imposes a fine on the company.

The shortcomings include 44 toilets and showers being out of order, and ventilation not working in eight areas. According to the authority, SJ has also been guilty of lack of punctuality and cancelled trains.

This is not the first time SJ has been forced to pay a fine for toilet problems on trains to Åre. As recently as May and September last year, the company was fined 30,000 and 35,000 kronor respectively. (TT)
