SJ has won the Transport category since the survey started in 2008.
Among the transport companies, only SJ and Snälltåget have increased their profits. Other transport companies have had unchanged or declining profits.
"The number of train journeys is increasing for the sixth year in a row and we see that there is a clear trend towards more sustainable travel. Four out of ten say they choose the train for environmental reasons when choosing a mode of transport," says Erica Kronhöffer, Director of Sustainability at SJ.
For the eleventh time, the brand company Differ has investigated ”Sweden’s Greenest Brand”. Just over a thousand people from all over the country, aged 15-74, have been asked to assess the environmental and sustainability work of 100 companies in the grocery, banking, clothing, cars, energy, transport, travel, fast food and pharmacy industries.
SJ was also named Sweden's second greenest brand, only beaten by ICA.
"It is gratifying to receive this acknowledgement that our sustainability and environmental work is yielding results. An example of our communication is that SJ's passengers regularly receive a report on how much carbon dioxide emissions they have saved by taking the train," says Erica Kronhöffer.
SJ purchases 100 % of renewable electricity from water and wind to power the trains, and since 1994 all journeys with SJ have been marked with the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation's Good Environmental Choice label.
