SJ is purchasing 25 new high-speed trains of the Zefiro Express model, which will have a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour - and are thus the fastest trains to have operated on Swedish railways.
The trains cost approximately seven billion kronor, and the first is expected to be in service in 2026, and will be used for long-distance traffic between major cities in Sweden, but also for traffic to Denmark and Norway.
According to SJ, the new express trains will, among other things, have space for bicycles and will be able to run on battery power in the event of disruptions in the electricity supply on the line.
