Illness resulting in staff shortages means that SJ is forced to cancel nearly 30 train departures per day during Christmas week.
The affected departures are scheduled Monday to Thursday, and the main routes affected include Stockholm–Gothenburg, Stockholm–Malmö, Stockholm–Uppsala and Linköping–Gävle. Other routes may be affected by individual cancellations, such as Stockholm–Västerås.
But SJ also announces that those traveling on Wednesday or Thursday by express train, on the Stockholm–Gothenburg and Stockholm–Malmö routes, will be guaranteed a seat as more train carriages will be deployed. Affected passengers will be contacted by SJ on Monday.
”"Everyone who has a booked ticket for the current departures will be contacted by today at the latest with information about what applies to that particular departure and what to do," says SJ's press manager Tobbe Lundell.
TT: Do you have any forecast for what the personnel situation will look like in the future?
”"No, but we know that on Christmas Eve it will be much quieter, few people travel then."”
