Skanska will develop and replace a new hotel in central Kiruna, which will be sold to LKAB upon completion, in 2021.
The sales value is approximately SEK 500 million, according to a press release. The construction contract is worth approximately SEK 400 million, which is included in Skanska Sweden's order intake for the second quarter of 2019.
”"We look forward to participating in the development of the new Kiruna. The hotel will become a landmark in the city and we are very pleased to have now signed an agreement with a long-term owner of the property," says Bernt Lundstedt, business developer, Skanska Sweden.
The new hotel is being built next to the town hall at the square in the new Kiruna city center. The hotel with 231 rooms covers a total of 14,000 square meters spread over 13 floors.
Hotel operator Scandic Hotels has signed a 20-year lease agreement for the hotel.
