For the 2026/2027 winter season, ski tourism company Skistar is improving its snow guarantee at all its destinations.
In Sälen, Skistar is now guaranteeing at least 30 open slopes, up from 15 previously. In Åre, the guarantee will also cover 30 slopes, up from 10. In Vemdalen, at least 20 slopes are now to be open according to the snow guarantee, compared to 8 slopes previously.
At Skistar's Norwegian destinations, the number of slopes included in the snow guarantee is fewer than at the company's Swedish destinations. In Trysil, a minimum of 15 open slopes are guaranteed, up from a previous minimum of 10 slopes. Hemsedal, according to the update, should have a minimum of 13 open slopes compared to the previous minimum of 9 slopes.
Skistar writes that the background to the change lies in ”a record-breaking investment in snow production, where the goal is clear: to secure more open slopes by Christmas and create a predictable and secure experience throughout the entire season.”.
The company is investing £306 million in snow production by, among other things, installing 489 new snow cannons at its destinations.
