Slippery and windy over Sweden

Remove

Large parts of the country could experience a slippery morning. And in the mountains, you'll need to hold on to your hat tightly.

Take it easy on the roads, and expect it to be slippery. In Norrland there is a risk of ice and in the southernmost parts of the country cold air can cause problems.

– In Skåne and along the West Coast, surface temperatures are falling and there is a risk of freezing overnight, says Anette Levin, meteorologist at SMHI.

During the day the temperature will rise, but in the morning practically the entire country will experience freezing temperatures, with possible exceptions on the coasts. The afternoon looks to be slightly warmer.

– In Götaland it can be plus degrees. Northern Svealand and above generally get below zero degrees, says Anette Levin.

A precipitation area is coming in over the Jämtland Mountains and moving eastward during the day. The precipitation is affecting most of Norrland and is expected to continue throughout the day.

– It will enter the mountain regions during the morning and only move away from the east coast this evening, says Anette Levin.

Precipitation can come as both snow and rain, and the risk of slipping after freezing rain is high.

Those who want to enjoy the mountains and skiing on a sports holiday should make sure to dress appropriately and keep their hats on.

– It will be windy, but not enough for us to issue warnings, says Anette Levin, pointing out one exception.

– For the Lapland mountains we have a warning of very strong winds, but it is only during the afternoon and onwards. But that does not mean that it will not blow further south.
