Make sure to be there when your check-in or baggage drop-off opens and take advantage of Swedavia's other travel tips for a good start to your trip. Ahead of the spring and summer season, Arlanda has received a more even distribution of airlines across the terminals and Swedavia has added a completely new area with check-in machines in SkyCity at the entrance to Terminal 5 – all to create smoother flows and reduce the risk of congestion. Swedavia has staffed up together with our partners and below are five smart tips for a good start to your Easter trip.
1. Check in digitally from home and check which terminal your flight departs from.
Today, many airlines offer the option of checking in digitally from home, usually 24-48 hours before the flight departs. Some airlines have changed terminals in the past year. Therefore, keep track of which terminal your flight departs from so that you get the right start and get a smooth start to your journey. Information about the correct terminal can be found via the Swedavia app and website.
2. Download Swedavia's app and follow your flight.
By downloading The Swedavia app you can easily and conveniently keep track of your flight. You can subscribe to information about your specific flight and receive ongoing updates about the terminal, check-in desk, boarding time and gate.
3. Be there when check-in/baggage drop-off opens.
Arrive at the airport when your check-in and baggage drop-off opens. You can check the check-in/baggage drop-off conditions for your flight directly with the airline, by downloading the Swedavia app or visiting the Swedavia website under Departures.
4. Prepare for the security check.
If you are travelling with hand luggage only and have checked in digitally, you are welcome to go directly to the security checkpoint. For a smoother passage, you can have your boarding pass ready while you are in the security checkpoint queue, remove outerwear and metal objects such as belts with large buckles or jewellery, and remove mobile phones, laptops and other electronic equipment from your bag. Put liquids in your transparent one-litre bag and empty your pockets of loose items such as keys or coins.
5. Do you travel with special luggage?
If you are travelling with special luggage such as golf bags, skis or a stroller, you will first need to go to your check-in desk to get a tag. There you will also receive help and instructions on where to drop off your special luggage.
New area with check-in machines in SkyCity
A new area with check-in machines has been created in SkyCity to make it easier for those arriving by train or bus to Arlanda and traveling from Terminal 5. Here you can easily check in yourself and print out your luggage tag. You can then go to Terminal 5 and drop off your luggage.
Terminal 2 has opened for Non-Schengen traffic
At the end of March, Terminal 2 reopened to non-Schengen traffic for the first time since the start of the pandemic. A number of airlines then moved from Terminal 5 to Terminal 2. The goal is to achieve a better and more even flow of passengers at the airport.
