An autumn storm may be heading over the western parts of Sweden according to SMHI's forecasts.

– If you look at the forecast material that we have now, it is mainly from Friday afternoon and then increasing until Friday evening. Then it looks like it will subside. And actually it will be windy throughout the country, but we look like we will have the strongest wind in this area, Västra Götaland and up over the Vänern area, says Lovisa Andersson, a meteorologist at SMHI.

It is a low pressure area approaching Scandinavia from the Atlantic Ocean that may bring with it these winds that come over Sweden from the west.

So far, SMHI is classifying this as there being a "risk of storms" on Friday - but if the forecast holds, this could be upgraded to a class 2 warning.

– Yes, it is at least a situation where we have to keep an eye on the forecast development because it can get really windy and difficult, says Lovisa Andersson.

If the forecast turns out to be correct, we can expect that the wind may cause some problems on Friday.

– Trees can fall. If they are loose objects, they can fly away. Storms are up to a class 2 warning, if this forecast holds up.

So you should pack up the outdoor furniture?

– Yes, if you have loose objects, you should probably anchor them well, because it is simply a strong wind, says meteorologist Lovisa Andersson.
