SMHI warns of heavy snowfall in Norrland and parts of Svealand during the afternoon.

A class 2 warning, which means that the weather may be a danger to the public, has been issued for Västernorrland.

In western Götaland, trains have been canceled due to the weather.

The precipitation area is currently moving north over western Götaland. Most snow is expected to fall over Västernorrland, but SMHI has also issued several class 1 warnings for large parts of Svealand, southern Norrland and along the northern Norrland coast. In some places, up to 30 centimeters of snow may fall.

”"Traffic is mainly affected where snowfall in combination with winds can cause drifts to form," says Charlotta Eriksson, meteorologist at SMHI, to TT.

The snowfall across Norrland is expected to begin on Sunday afternoon and continue overnight into Monday.

”Then the amount of snow increases, especially in the coastal areas,” says Charlotta Eriksson.

Västra Götaland is expected to be hit by severe storms during the day and train departures on the Uddevalla-Strömstad route will therefore be cancelled from 4 pm on Sunday until 6:40 am on Monday.

”"The winds may reach storm force at a few coastal stations in the area, but generally there are expected to be very strong gusts in Bohuslän and Halland," says SMHI meteorologist Henrik Reimer.

Those who are going to be out in traffic do best to stay extra updated on the weather conditions, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.

”"As a driver, it's good to keep an eye on weather forecasts and listen to traffic information on the radio so that you are prepared that it may be a bit chaotic and take a little longer than usual," says Pär Aronsson at the Swedish Transport Administration's press hotline.

The Västernorrland County Administrative Board is also warning of power outages in the county and urging people to have flashlights on hand, fill up water bottles and charge their mobile phones in advance.
