The heat wave that has settled over Sweden risks starting fires in forests and land. Now SMHI is warning that the fire risk is high due to the dry land.
In Sörmland, Östergötland, easternmost Småland, Skåne, Blekinge, Öland and Gotland, the fire risk is considered to be extremely high. Along the Norrland coast and western Svealand, the risk of fires is locally high.
Maximum daytime temperatures are expected to exceed 26 degrees in Götaland and large parts of Svealand until at least Tuesday.
At the same time, the heat is affecting the water supply and certain watercourses and groundwater reservoirs in large parts of the country are at risk of suffering from water shortages.
