Bring on the fan – the three-day heat wave is coming. Temperatures could reach over 30 degrees in large parts of southern Sweden these days.

– It looks like it's nosediving towards 35, says SMHI meteorologist Albin Torsson.

Summer is in full swing and it's showing on the thermometer. The week has started with high temperatures around the country and the sun has also been shining brightly.

But now it's getting even warmer. During Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Swedish National Institute of Health has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures in parts of northeastern Götaland and southern Svealand. It begins at noon on Wednesday and extends until Friday evening.

– It is very sunny and above all warm, says Albin Torsson, meteorologist at SMHI.

He also warns that the warning may be adjusted. 

The warmest temperatures are expected to be on Thursday afternoon in the areas covered by the warning. Then it could be a bit over 30 degrees.

– It looks like it's nosediving towards 35, or somewhere there, around 33, 34 degrees, says Torsson.

”Try to stay cool”

For those who live or are in the parts of the country that are under weather warnings, SMHI urges them to take it a little cautiously.

– You should remember to try to stay cool, drink plenty of water and keep an eye on yourself so you don't get heatstroke. Then it's good to know that there is also a fire risk. At these temperatures, it becomes very dry out in the fields. 

Friday will also be hot, despite cooler air moving in over the country. The sun may be replaced by clouds and showers, and possibly even thunder. This weekend, the weather change is a fact – temperatures are expected to drop and rain-heavy clouds dominate the skies.
