An SAS plane en route to Finland has returned to Arlanda after a smoke alarm in the cabin.
– There should be 33 people on board. They haven't called mayday but are turning back now, says assistant air rescue leader Lina Buurstra.
A large rescue operation including a police helicopter was sent to the scene.
At 2:56 p.m. the aircraft landed at Arlanda.
– Everything went well. It was a smaller aircraft and as far as I know everyone was able to get off the aircraft as usual, says Christer Persson, who is the air rescue leader.
Persson says that it was the flight crew on board who raised the alarm about the smell of smoke.
– I don't know exactly why it smelled, but it's common for it to start to smell different when you use the convection ovens to serve food to passengers.
