During July, the number of passengers at Swedavia's airports decreased by 87 percent compared to July last year.
In total, this concerns 486,000 travelers, of which 307,000 were international (minus 90 percent) and 179,000 were domestic (minus 79 percent).
“"We see that the recovery of aviation is cautiously continuing as travel restrictions are eased and make it possible for increased travel. However, passenger volumes were also at a historically low level in July and compared to last year, the number of passengers decreased by 3.3 million. The consequence for the aviation ecosystem and Swedavia is therefore still significant," says Swedavia's President and CEO Jonas Abrahamsson in a press release.
The assessment is that aviation will recover at a slow pace and that the market will be severely affected both this year and next year.
“After that, it will likely take a few more years before aviation is back to pre-Covid levels,” says Abrahamsson.
Swedavia operates ten airports in Sweden, including Arlanda and Landvetter.
