Global travel restrictions have hit South Africa, the country where the first cases of the Omicron variant were detected, extremely hard. While more cases are being detected in other countries, business is mostly business as usual in South Africa, where many feel the travel ban is unfair.

South Africa is now entering its fourth wave of the pandemic, but unlike before, this time the country has access to a vaccine that is free and available to everyone.

The country remains at level one, which means face masks in public places and some restrictions on the number of people allowed to gather indoors and at some outdoor events.
