South Korea is easing most of its coronavirus restrictions. The spread of the Omicron variant has decreased, and starting next week, the limit on the number of people at indoor events, which was previously limited to ten, will be lifted. Bars, cafes and restaurants will be allowed to reopen after midnight.

The requirement to wear face masks indoors remains but could be removed within two weeks if the spread of infection continues to decrease, says Health Minister Kwon Deok-cheol.

Starting next week, a ban on larger political demonstrations and other events that had been limited to 300 participants will also be lifted.

In just over a week, on April 25, people will also be allowed to eat indoors at cinemas, within religious congregations, and at bus and train stations.
