Southwest Airlines has offered to pay $15 million, equivalent to SEK 122 million, in a settlement that puts an end to allegations of its involvement in a cartel.

The attack comes via a class action lawsuit filed in 2015 by passengers who say the airline colluded with Delta Airlines, United Continental and American Airlines to keep prices high.

Southwest has denied that this is the case and now wants to pay damages to avoid "a large amount of distraction and expense of a lengthy legal process.".

Southwest's proposed settlement has been approved by a federal judge but is still awaiting a response from passengers.
