Swedes' mobile surfing abroad continues to increase. During the first two weeks of July, Tele2 and Comviq customers' data usage outside Sweden increased by 30 percent compared to the same period in 2025, according to new figures from Tele2.

Spain retains its position as the destination where Swedes surf the most, with a total of 280,000 GB of mobile data used, an increase of 20 percent from the previous year. Germany came in second with 199,000 GB, followed by Greece with 182,000 GB.

Italy and Norway were also high on the list, with 174,000 and 169,000 GB respectively.

“Our digital habits are not changing just because we cross national borders. On the contrary, we want to share experiences, stream entertainment and stay in touch with loved ones during the holidays,” says Björn Lindberg, network expert at Tele2.

Football led to a sharp increase in surfing in the US

Outside Europe, a clear effect of football travel was felt. During the last two weeks of June, mobile surfing by Tele2 and Comviq customers in the US increased by almost 75 percent compared to the same period last year. In total, around 7,500 GB were used.

German tourists surf the most in Sweden

Tele2 has also analyzed how foreign visitors use the mobile network during their vacation in Sweden.

German tourists accounted for the largest amount of data usage in the first two weeks of July, doubling their usage to 454,000 GB compared to the previous year.

This was followed by Norwegian visitors with 347,000 GB and Danish with 295,000 GB. Finnish tourists accounted for 251,000 GB and Polish for 199,000 GB.

Tele2 also notes that the largest data traffic from foreign visitors was in southern and central Sweden. At the same time, mobile surfers from up to 100 different countries were registered in Norrland, something the company links to the increased interest in Sweden as a destination for so-called "coolcations".
