A low pressure from the Mediterranean is heading towards Sweden. Next week, large parts of the country can expect temperatures above 20 degrees.
– The record this year is 21.1 degrees in Malmö on April 9. I think we will beat that on Monday, says meteorologist Per Holmberg.
Spring warmth has been conspicuous by its absence during April – Nikkaluokta recorded the coldest April night in 30 years. But now the heat is on its way – at least the Spanish heat.
At the beginning of next week, low pressure will move towards Sweden.
– We can expect temperatures above 20 degrees, especially in Götaland and eastern Svealand, says meteorologist Per Holmberg at the Storm weather institute.
”The record is broken”
The low pressure comes from the Atlantic Ocean and the Iberian Peninsula.
– The low pressure is bringing up warm winds from the south. Already on Sunday there will be temperatures around 15 degrees in Götaland, says Holmberg.
– At the beginning of the week, even warmer air will come in. Then it will probably be over 20 degrees.
The 2024 heat record was broken on April 9 in Malmö, when 21.1 degrees were measured.
– I think we'll break that record on Monday. It's likely to be the warmest day of the year so far, says Holmberg.
Is there any specific city that gets extra heat?
– The area around Kalmar is where it will be warmest, it looks like.
