Now the number of bookings among the Swedish people is increasing, 67 percent more people went to Sri Lanka in 2018 than the year before and the trend looks set to continue this year.

Sri Lanka is ranked the best destination to visit in 2019, according to Lonely Planet's annual list of countries to visit. Better connections, new hotels and a growing range of activities are some of the factors behind the fine award. Travel company TUI has also seen increased interest in the destination, with bookings increasing by a whopping 67 percent in 2018 compared to the previous year. Something that particularly attracts travelers to the destination is safari experiences in Sri Lanka's enormous nature reserve where thousands of elephants live freely.

Sri Lanka is a fantastic destination that offers long beaches, good food and opportunities for activities. Something for both adventure seekers or families with children as well as foodies. A perfect climate during the winter months with direct flights from Sweden. Says Patrick Törn, Sales Manager TUI Sweden.
