Staff shortage at Arlanda causes long Easter queues

Remove

The start of Easter week was tough at Arlanda Airport. Swedavia has staffing problems at security checkpoints, and this has led to queues on Friday that are described as being several hundred meters long.

”"The queue is from Terminal 5, past Sky City and to Terminal 4," a person who was at Arlanda during the afternoon testified to Aftonbladet.

Swedavia, which operates Arlanda Airport, apologizes for the problems:

”"We regret that it has become like this. It is a combination of high travel pressure and that we do not have enough staff. We have two years of pandemic behind us with less travel and it takes time to increase staffing," says Peter Wärring, press officer at Swedavia, to TT.

According to Wärring, however, the queues at Arlanda have decreased slightly during the beginning of Friday evening.

TT: Will it look like this throughout Easter week?
”"Today is the first big travel day. We urge travelers to be out very well in advance, at least two hours before departure if traveling domestically and three hours for international travel. It is also good if as many people as possible check in from home."”

TT: Do you have any opportunity to get more staff during this week?
”"What we have are special hosts who will help at the entrances. We hope to make that easier.".
