STF closes its mountain stations early

The Swedish Tourist Association (STF) is closing all of its mountain stations, reports Sveriges Radio Norrbotten.

STF closed its mountain cabins at the end of March and now it is the turn of the mountain stations.

”"We were supposed to be open for about another week and a half, so it's earlier than usual," says Marit Sarri, site manager at Kebnekaise mountain station, to the radio.

The reason for the earlier closure is the rules and restrictions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. STF hopes to open the stations during the summer, and then see an increase in guests.

”"We hope that with the restrictions on traveling abroad, people might turn their eyes to the mountains instead," says Marit Sarri.
