Now those traveling from Norway to Sweden no longer need to show a negative Covid test - and the reinforced border controls have been removed.
But for entrepreneurs on the border, who mainly have Norwegians as customers, this doesn't really change anything.
On May 31, reinforced border security was abolished and now a negative Covid test is not required to enter Sweden.
SVT was on site at the border with Norway in Umbukta in Storuman municipality the day after the reinforced border guard was removed, and there was not exactly a rush from the neighboring country.
In practice, the abolition of border guarding on the Swedish side does not play a major role for those entrepreneurs near the Norwegian border who mainly have Norwegians as customers.
For those who want to travel to Norway, a ten-day quarantine is still required.
“We have lost 96-97 percent of our turnover,” says Anna Segerstedt, who runs Gränslöst shopping center in Umfors in Västerbotten, near the Norwegian border.
