Stockholm Skavsta Airport is working with the goal of putting the airport on the national and international airport map. Due to the company having been running a financial deficit for several years, the airport is now changing and streamlining its organization. One consequence of the streamlining is that Stockholm Skavsta Airport is giving employees notice of termination due to a lack of work.
The company has been running a financial deficit of several million kronor for several years. The airport has not recovered from the impact of the pandemic on flight operations and Ryanair's move in 2021.
– We need to take measures to stabilize the economy. It is very sad to have to lay off staff, but we will do everything we can to support our employees in this transition, says Jesper Fredmark, CEO.
The notice, which covers around 30 employees, is due to a lack of work and will initiate union negotiations. The number of employees who will ultimately be directly affected by the notice will be announced after the negotiations are completed.
Changed way of working
The streamlining of the organization involves a changed working method with the goal of developing a Basic Airport concept.
– We need to find new ways to work more efficiently than we do today. The Basic Airport concept, which has been introduced at other airports, means in short that the operational staff must be competent for several functions. Managers and administrative staff must be competent to provide operational support when needed. It is a change to meet today's needs while strengthening ourselves for the needs of the future, says Jesper Fredmark, CEO.
Long-term ambition
The long-term ambition of the owners does not change. Stockholm Skavsta Airport remains a reliable and long-term supplier in the industry, where the airport will develop in all operational market areas. Today's direction creates improved conditions and clarity for the future.
