After the outbreak of stomach illness at Kebnekaise mountain station, STF chose to close the station and the Baja Majors were flown down from the mountain for cleanup.

In a press release, Region Norrbotten now announces that winter vomiting disease was behind the outbreak.

”"We are now finding in samples from people who have fallen ill norovirus, also called calicivirus, a virus that causes what is colloquially called winter vomiting disease."”

The region writes that a large part of the spread of the infection comes from indirect infection in makeshift toilets and that the chain of infection has been broken through the mountain station's measures.
