After some disagreement, the airline Norwegian and Petter Stordalen's hotel group Strawberry have now agreed on the terms of the duo's new bonus program, which is scheduled to start this fall.
In June last year, it became known that Norwegian and Strawberry, which was previously called Nordic Choice, would join forces and start a joint bonus program.
The plan was for the program to be launched at the end of 2023, but protests among owners and board members of both parties have caused the launch to be delayed, writes Dagens Næringsliv.
The newspaper has previously reported that the investment company Sundt, owned by shipping heirs Christian and Helene Sundt and a major shareholder in Norwegian, had objections to the design of the bonus program. Notably, Sundt is also a major shareholder in the real estate company Pandox, which owns many of the properties where Scandic, a competitor to Strawberry, is located.
However, Norwegian CEO Geir Karlsen has not wanted to comment on the connection or whether it has caused any disagreements between the airline and Strawberry.
On Tuesday, the agreement between the parties was finally signed, meaning that the bonus program, which goes by the name Loyaltyco, can be launched this fall. Norwegian and Strawberry each own 50 percent of the company.
Together, the two companies have around 10 million members. The duo is also open to welcoming more companies into the collaboration in the future.
