Storm Emilia: Over 1,400 lightning strikes in four hours

Storm Emilia is moving across the Canary Islands with heavy rain and thunderstorms. 

On Saturday, over 1,400 lightning strikes occurred within four hours in Gran Canaria and northern Tenerife, according to Canarian Weekly.

The storm has caused widespread disruption with cancelled flights and ferries, flooding, power outages and 1,000 emergency calls on the archipelago.
