There will be a storm in northern Sweden by the evening, but the winds will already be strong during the day.

Several large sports holiday resorts are located in areas where SMHI warns of storms, and the area was expanded during the morning.

Thousands of sports holidaymakers are starting or ending their holidays today and heading out either on roads or on slopes, but they can expect both strong winds and rain.
SMHI warns of storms until the evening in the northern half of the country.

– We have a class 2 warning for storms in the Jämtland Mountains and the Lapland Mountains starting tonight, says Sofia Söderberg, on-call meteorologist at SMHI.

During the morning, the class 2 warnings were extended to also apply east of the mountains, in Jämtland County, Västernorrland County towards the coast, and in the inland of Västerbotten County and the inland of Norrbotten County.

In connection with the storm, precipitation will also occur in the Lapland mountains, she says.

In coastal areas, the wind will also blow, but not quite as hard and persistently. There, SMHI has issued the less serious class 1 warning.

– We have class 1 warnings for the coasts of Västerbotten and Norrbotten counties.

Storm winds are expected until the evening, but throughout the day it will be blowing strongly throughout the northern part of the country.

– There will be strong or very strong winds from northern Dalarna and Härjedalen and upwards, but not gale force winds.

During the day it will be partly clear to overcast in the northern part and there will also be a risk of freezing rain.
