When the airline Amapola starts flying from several Swedish airports to Bromma in two weeks, it will be possible to book seats and pay using tickets from canceled flights with BRA, which is under reconstruction and has stopped its traffic until after the summer.
On Monday, June 15, the airline Amapola will resume service from Malmö, Gothenburg, Halmstad, Visby and Ängelholm to Bromma Airport. The routes have been at a standstill since the airline BRA cancelled all departures in March and shortly afterwards also requested corporate restructuring in the wake of the corona crisis.
Now Ulrika Matsgård, who is commercial manager at BRA, reveals that travelers who have had their flights canceled due to the reconstruction will be able to use the value of the tickets towards a new booking with Amapola Flyg.
”"We have our aircraft idled and our staff laid off, but since we see that there is a demand and we have collaborated with Amapola before and they can quickly set up traffic, we saw an excellent opportunity for commercial cooperation that we hope our customers will appreciate," she says.
Formally, BRA will only function as a reseller of tickets for Amapola's flights, until the reconstruction is complete and the company can, in the best case scenario, resume its own traffic after the summer.
”"We have set aside a number of seats on each flight where those who have credits for tickets from BRA can travel subject to space availability. It is not fully defined exactly how many seats per departure or week, but we hope to be able to accommodate everyone," she says.
At the same time, restrictions on domestic travel are still in place. The announcement of guidelines for the summer is delayed, but an announcement is promised this week from the Public Health Agency. This means that plans for the resumed traffic could quickly change again.
”"We assess that there will continue to be restrictions and that unnecessary flights should not be made, but there are certain flights that are necessary and where there is a need that we are trying to meet. But of course we will consider if there are further restrictions."”
Amapola plans to fly once in each direction on weekdays from Malmö and Ängelholm to Bromma. From Malmö there will also be one flight in each direction on Sundays.
According to Ulrika Matsgård, the reconstruction work is proceeding according to plan. The company will request an extension when the first three-month period expires in a few weeks, but she still expects the company to be able to resume flights again after the summer on its own. Even then, it should be possible to use the credit for tickets for flights that have been canceled, provided that the reconstruction is successful.
