Strike in Italy: Hundreds of flights cancelled

The airline staff union has announced a national strike in Italy.

On Saturday, air traffic controllers, pilots and ground staff went on strike. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled so far.

Approximately 1,000 flights and 150,000 passengers could be affected by the strike, according to The Times.

According to the union's statement, ground staff will strike from 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturday, while air traffic controllers will have a 24-hour stoppage.
