Strong passenger numbers for Lufthansa

Lufthansa recorded 12.9 million passengers in May, which represents growth of eleven percent year-on-year.

The cabin factor, which measures how full the planes are, rose by 0.4 percentage points to 79.4 percent during the month. The currency-adjusted yield is described as having developed positively.

Capacity, ASK, rose by 7.8 percent while Lufthansa's sales increased by 8.3 percent. On the cargo side, capacity increased by 6.8 percent. The company's low-cost venture Eurowings recorded 3.4 million passengers during the month.

2.6 million of these were short-haul flights. The number of passengers represents a growth of 20.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
