The number of guest nights increased by 2.7 percent during the summer.
This is according to recent figures from Statistics Sweden. During the summer, the number of guest nights in hotels increased by 2.7 percent or 332,000 guest nights compared to the same period a year earlier.
This is shown by Statistics Sweden's accommodation statistics, according to the industry organization Visita.
”"This year's summer was a record summer for Swedish hotels. The strong economy together with an expanded hotel market that is filling its rooms are some of the reasons," says Jonas Siljhammar, CEO of Visita, in a comment.
Among foreign guests, overnight stays increased by 4.5 percent during the summer months compared to the same period last year. For domestic guests, the increase was 2 percent.
”In recent years, we have seen that foreign visitors play an increasingly important role for Swedish hotels and they now account for over 30 percent of guest nights,” says Jonas Siljhammar.
