A rainy Easter weekend prompted many Swedes to start planning their summer vacation. According to travel agency Ticket, bookings increased by 16 percent over the Easter weekend – a clear sign that more people want to secure their spot in the sun well in advance.
Easter was rainy in many parts of the country – which boosted travel bookings. According to travel agency Ticket, summer bookings increased by almost 16 percent during the long weekend, compared to the corresponding period the month before.
– We saw a clear increase during the Easter weekend. After a cold and gray long weekend, many now seem to want to ensure a warm and sunny summer, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR & Communications Manager at Ticket.
According to the travel agency, booking behavior has changed and more and more people are starting to see the benefits of booking their summer vacation in advance. The high pressure on travel means that prices often rise the closer you get to the departure date, and in recent years, last-minute prices have been conspicuous by their absence.
– Many have realized that it is no longer possible to expect last-minute prices for summer trips. The attractive flight departures and popular hotels are booked up early, and what has remained as summer approaches has been less attractive travel times, destinations and hotels. With the rainy summers of recent years fresh in their minds, many are therefore taking the opportunity to be out in good time to secure both a place and a price for their summer trip, says Tiyoneh Jah.
