Swedish bookings have increased by a whopping 55 percent compared to last summer on Finnlines' route between Sweden and Finland. On board, it is clear what travelers prefer: Swedes like sweets and seafood, while Finns choose salty liquorice and cognac.

At the turn of last year, Finnlines launched two new ships to Finland, which has led to more and more Swedes choosing to travel east with the shipping company. Over the past year, passengers from 137 countries have traveled with Finnlines on this route, with Swedes and Finns together accounting for 75 percent of all passengers on board.

– There is high pressure on board the ships now in July, and we can clearly see which products are favourites among the passengers. The Swedes spend their money on fish and seafood in the restaurants and sweets in the shop, while our Finnish guests prefer salty liquorice. When it comes to drinks, Swedish passengers choose whisky, while Finns more often buy cognac, says Kristiina Uppala, Head of Finnlines Customer Service.

The restaurant Fisherman's Bistro is on both ships and has served 32,000 hamburgers and 17,000 portions of Fish & Chips over the course of a year. The coffee craving is also great – a whopping 105,000 cups have been drunk.
